“Everyone has a "best friend" during each stage of life-only a precious few have the same one.” 

There are many different ways to describe that one person who has consistently been there with you, for you and beside you. Being a best friend is more than hitting the streets, partying and getting drunk together.  A friend is the one who gets drunk with you, helps you through the hangover and talks you through the pain.  A best friend isn't someone who just goes along for the ride. It is someone who knows when to knock you out the driver seat and take the wheel because they see the cliff approaching.  That same friend is also waiting at the bottom of the cliff you drive off to help you recover the mangled pieces of your life.  There is more to being a best friend than claiming a title of BFF in high school.  And if you are lucky enough to have a true best friend today, be grateful and cherish them always.
