From the second President of the United States of America - John Adams
“Grief drives men into habits of serious reflection, sharpens the understanding, and softens the heart”
If there must be a benefit to the loss of life, it is that those left to grieve begin to see the tremendous value in life. If there must be a silver lining to the tremendous grief of the living, it is the way they rally around each other to support, love and comfort one another. There is little value in the loss of life, especially through senseless violence. But in the midst of such a mind numbing loss, life itself is enhanced in its value, its color, its joy. Life is precious and short. And how much easier it would be if it didn't take grief to help us understand that.
Have a reflective day!
