Thought of the Day - June 20, 2011

From someone who respectfully disagreed - Kenneth A. Wells

“A good listener tries to understand what the other person is saying. In the end he may disagree sharply, but because he disagrees, he wants to know exactly what it is he is disagreeing with.”

It is not necessary to agree with what others think. In fact, when you disagree with others, it is not even necessary to express that disagreement. But when you decide to speak on something you disagree with, it is imperative you are clear on the position you are opposing and are prepared to debate that position from a logical standpoint based on facts. Without that, the only reason to voice disagreement is to argue. Which is something that will never bridge the gap, only serve to widen it.

Have a peaceful day!
