Thought of the Day - October 6, 2010

From someone who said something that touches my heart deeply every time I read it - Anonymous

“Love is stronger than death even though it can't stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries it can't separate people from love. It can't take away our memories either. In the end, life is stronger than death.”

Life is stronger than death. And although death separated me from my mother 10 years ago today, it wasn't strong enough to separate me from her love and her from mine. I remember the day she died, laying peacefully in the hospice bed at Calvary. I touched her hand, it was still warm and soft. I was no longer worried about her, I knew her pain and suffering had ended that day. But I wasn't too sure how I would make it through the following 10 minutes let alone the next ten years. Time is a funny thing. It moves along with or without your permission. And with no choice in the matter, I stand here 10 years later to honor the life of my mother whose death still feels like it happened yesterday. Life and love are indeed stronger than death and it is life and love that have carried me every day.
