From someone who wrote from the depths of his soul - Steven Deitz
“One should rather die than be betrayed. There is no deceit in death. It delivers precisely what it has promised. Betrayal, though ... betrayal is the willful slaughter of hope.”
Not only should we hope to avoid being betrayed, we should more importantly do everything within every fiber of our being to avoid betraying those we love, like, care about or even know. Betrayal is not a bitter pill like deceit or a hard pill like an error in judgment. Betrayal rips out the core of another, sets in on the ground, spits upon it and then attempts (with a straight face) to place that core back within the vessel of another. Betrayal damages the betrayed in ways that extend way beyond the life cycle of the perpetrators actions. To be one who has betrayed another makes you responsible for much more than your singular act. It becomes a lifelong burden that is extremely heavy to bear.
Have a decent day!
