Thought of the Day - February 29, 2012

From a woman who is phenomenal - Dr. Maya Angelou

“The fact that the adult American Negro female emerges a formidable character is often met with amazement, distaste and even belligerence. It is seldom accepted as an inevitable outcome of the struggle won by survivors, and deserves respect.”

No one can determine your outcome more than you can.  But for some, the hill is steep for unknown reasons and the road is rough due to circumstances outside of ones control.  However, when the cloth from which one is cut is that of those who fought through slavery and lived through segregation all to flourish in a time where gender and race are still tools of discrimination - then rough roads don't deter the travels, only encourage the distance one is willing to go in order to win!

Have a sassy day!

February is Black History Month.   All month long, we celebrated and honored those who are part of the Black American Experience, past and present.  One month is not enough to summarize the rich and dazzling history of Black people in this country!  Looking forward to March - Women's History Month begins!
