From the man who stood tall and proud in Washington DC 45 years ago today proclaiming to the world that he had a dream - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
"Now, I say to you today my friends, even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: - 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."
These words jump off the screen for me today. Our entire lives have been spent reading about history. Today we are able to witness history. Today I beam with pride as I look forward to the bearing witness to the dream. This dream that is indeed deeply rooted in the American dream. The dream simply for the opportunity to bring the change to this country that it so desperately needs. I suspect that even Dr. King could not have dreamt of this moment today.
