Thought of the Day - August 26, 2008

From a woman who gave an phenomenal speech about an improbable journey - Mrs. Michelle Obama

"I stand here today at the crosscurrents of that history — knowing that my piece of the American dream is a blessing hard won by those who came before me. All of them driven by the same conviction that drove my dad to get up an hour early each day to painstakingly dress himself for work. The same conviction that drives the men and women I've met all across this country."

If you watched this speech, there is no way chills did not go down your spine. If you listened to the passion this woman has for her husband, children and country, there is no way you would believe she is "unamerican". If you witnessed a woman who took on the lead role in a week long convention give a speech that shut up any idea that she is an ABW (Angry Black Woman), then you were lucky to witness history. What last nights speech displayed was an image of a Black woman and a Black family that overrides all those negatives images on BET. What Michelle Obama does for America is challenge women, particularly Black Women, to hold ourselves to a higher standard. And she did it all looking absolutely fabulous!!!

Have an inspired, hard working, driven kind of day!
