Always know in advance what you want to participate in - a discussion or an argument. Know whether or not the person you are talking to is even capable of speaking from a place of knowledge. No matter how hard someone tries, don't let them suck you into one when you are looking to have the other. Yes there is a time and place for both but there is just no way you can have both at the same time.
