No matter how many times these words are spoken, we often forget. You must love and trust people to be exactly who they are. Around the margins, some people may change and grow. But the fundamental fabric and core value system of most adults will not change tremendously, no matter how much you love them. The personality traits of honor, integrity and loyalty will not suddenly appear in an individual simply because you love them. You have to get to know someone as they are and love them just that way, without any hope for change and idea of growth or any prospect of anything. No matter what the situation, loving potential is a recipe for emotional disaster.
