“In doing what we ought we deserve no praise”
Praise is great, but it is not necessary for you to do what you need to do. If doing the hard work is strictly for the purpose of praise, you can easily fall victim to flattery and false praise, leading you down a path other than that which was destined for you. When you seek praise, when you need praise, when praise is your motivation, all you will be in the end is praised. Not accomplished, not successful - just praised.
