Sometimes you are afraid because you know what can happen since it has happened to you before. Sometimes that fear you have is driven by what you have witnessed happened to others. Being scared can even be fostered by a scenario your vivid imagination creates. Fear is not wrong, nor is it something you should reject. It is simply an emotion, like any other, that should not be allowed to singularly control your life.
