Thought of the Day - May 2, 2011

From a very reliable source - The Bible

"Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." Romans 12:19-20 (KJV)

A monumental event has occurred. A life has been taken in order to claim justice for the many lives lost. But we must not celebrate in that loss of life, for it makes us appear no better than those who wronged us on that day. Choosing not to celebrate death doesn't make you less of a patriot, it just makes you more of a human. The celebration is for a job well done by the brave men and women of our military, the intelligence community and the leadership demonstrated by the President of the United States. His leadership got the job done and completed the task at hand. A task entered into under someone elses watch, but completed under his. A task he takes responsibility for, one that will make him a target for the rest of his life. A task that will serve as a game changer across the world. A task that will serve as the end of one fight but likely the beginning of another.

For the 3,000 people lost on 9/11, for the 6,000 service men and women that have been lost since, I pray there is some solace and peace for them and their families.

Have a reflective day!
