Yes there are times when silence is golden. Times when there is no need to speak. But when it becomes a regular occurrence that someone would rather you not speak simply because they are not ready, willing or able to hear not only what you have to say but what needs to be said, then they are not respecting you or your right to have a voice. And no person who denies your voice can be called your friend.
