Thought of the Day - June 22, 2010

From someone who knew the true meaning of friendship - Henri Nouwen

“The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing... not healing, not curing... that is a friend who cares.”

Sometimes you have no idea what to say and even if you did know what to say, you wouldn't know how to say it. Sometimes you can't fix the situation, help the person or do anything to make it better. Even then, you still have to be there. Even in the moments that make you the most uncomfortable, the times when you just want to stay in the corner avoiding the person who needs you the most, you can not! You must be better than you ever imagined you could be, bolder than you ever thought you should be and brighter than you want to be; you must be a friend.

Have a supportive day!
