From an Army General who broke racial boundaries and paved the way for many - Colin Powell
"Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier."
On this first day of 2009, it is important to take a moment to reflect on the year that just passed. 2008 brought so many positive things, moments in history that we were ALL blessed to live through. While 08 brought us the presidency of Barack Obama, it also gave us the worst economy since the depression. There were highs and lows of the year, that is for sure. But in order to truly enjoy the wonders that our future holds, we must remain optimistic. We must know that no matter how bad things may seem, a change is going to come.
This is not only necessary on the large scale of our country but also on a very personal level. 2008 was a year for me with many highs and a few lows. It would be easy to focus on the lows but I choose to focus on the highlights. Does that take away from the fact that in 2008, I lost my father unexpectedly, no it doesn't. But it does allow me to look forward to 2009 as an opportunity for something wonderful to come. I keep my optimism high, even when I don't feel like it, because I know that the positive attitude will garner far more positive results than a negative one. For 2009, I wish all of you the power of positive thinking. For I am a firm believer that our thoughts become our actions.
No matter how 2008 went for you, know that it is DONE! 2009 is your moment, your opportunity to start over and begin a new. That is the ultimate blessing of a New Year!!
Have a wonderful day and a BLESSED 2009!!!
