From someone who said something great but did not get credit - Anonymous
"Many of the great achievements of the world were accomplished by tired and discouraged men who kept on working."
Today is the day the Lord has made! For every single one of you that voted yesterday, you changed the WORLD. For anyone of that did not vote, I am sorry that you missed out on being part of the BEST MOMENT IN AMERICAN HISTORY!!! Everyone of us that voted yesterday took part in making Barack Obama the 44th President of the United States of America. There were many naysayers, many people that pulled the lever for Obama yesterday did so out of hope because deep down in their hearts, they did not believe he could actually win. Not only did he win, but we won! We won as a nation, we won as a people because we had the courage to vote for the better candidate in SPITE of all the other things. For the first time in my life I can truly say that I am PROUD to be an American. For the same country that dragged my people across the Atlantic Ocean to enslave them for hundreds of years has now voted for a BLACK MAN as the next PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!
Yesterday, I voted for Barack Obama. The moment I voted, I did so for every slave that died in the middle passage and for every one that made it. I voted for every house and field slave that sang old negro spirituals with the hopes of one day just being free. I voted yesterday for Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass and those who fought just to get us free from the shackles of slavery. When I voted yesterday, in that very special moment, I did so for Martin, Malcolm and Medgar who were stolen from us by the bullets of a snipers gun. Yesterday when I voted for Barack Obama, I did so for my grandmother and great Aunt Goldie who were born in the early 1900's, KNEW what it meant to sit on the back of the bus and didn't live to see this moment come alive. I voted for my parents, a mother who voted every election and made sure I knew the importance and a father, a registered republican, who declared he would vote for Obama. I pulled that lever yesterday for Kyree, Tahji, Sklyer, Tori, Savannah, Tianna, Eric, Shakeel, Maxwell, Amir, Chloe and every other child that I know and love who would be given a new type of hope for their future. And lastly, I voted yesterday in honor of my own children, who I don't even know yet, for the tremendous love and adoration I have for them allowed me to take a leap on faith and hope to believe that Barack Obama can change this country, this world, into a great place for me to bring them into! Yesterday I voted for Barack Obama and today, he is the President!
Have a joyous day!
