Doing Our Part

I NEED YOUR HELP!

As many of you know, this election is ours to lose or win. It is going to count heavily on the new first time voters to get out there and make their voices heard. That is why I am organizing groups to go into our own neighborhoods and housing projects to get people registered to vote. I know there are many arguments people give for why they don't need to vote, but in this time, in this climate, EVERY VOTE COUNTS!!! I know that we are all extremely busy and have so many things on our plates, but I ask you to spare any time you have to spend 2 hours outside just talking to people in our neighborhoods about the importance of voting and helping them get registered. I have done this before and trust me, it is met with alot of questions about why voting matters. I know all of you have many many answers!!

The deadline for registration in NY State is October 10th. Voter registrations have to be postmarked by that date. So there are only three weeks left to get as many people registered as we can. Below is a list of proposed times and locations to hit in the next two weekends. If you are available and would like to do a specific time, please let me know. There is no max or minimum of people. I will be at all of them so as long as I have one other person we can go - but the MORE THE BETTER!

I implore you to help out in anyway you can. My Hair Stylist Tonyce of Sapphire Hair Studio has agreed to keep voter registration forms in her shop for her clients. Just in case they need it. Other friends have agreed to go out on the streets with me, some will simply forward this email. Some have agreed to simply ask their friends and family to get registered (you will be surprised how many people close to you are not registered). For those of you outside of NY State, try to get people in your city/state registered. Find out when the deadline is and encourage people to get registered.

I can not emphasize how important this election is to all of us. At the end of it when the polls are closed, I will rest easy knowing I tried to do my part.
