From a woman who is clearly from the segregated town of Birmingham, Alabama who just happens to be the Secretary of State - Condelezza Rice
"What I would like understood as a black American is that black Americans loved and had faith in this country even when this country didn't love and have faith in them, and that's our legacy."
This quote from Condi Rice surprised me, but then again, why am I surprised? She is indeed a black woman who grew up in the segregated south in the 60's. It is unfair and untrue when people sugest that black people are unpatriotic. Even with all that this country has done to people of color, we have still given our lives through military service in greater proportions than our population. What is more patriotic than dying for this country? Our legacy is grand, greater than crime, struggle and poverty, far more than the civil rights movement. And now we are building an even greater legacy for our future - watch out world!!
Have a great day!
